Observational Studies Abstracts

Coverpage

✓ Should include research title and author information.

✓ Please provide the full names of authors and formal affiliation.

✓ List the authors in the order they should appear in the author listing of the abstract.

Please note the importance of obtaining approval from all authors, including the submitting author, before submitting the abstract and and the submitting author must be one of the authors of the article.

Introduction

✓ Provide a brief overview of the subject

✓ Discuss what is already known about the topic. ✓ Identify the research gap

✓ Clearly state the aim of the research.

Please note the importance: The introduction should be brief (<25%of the total abstract).

Methods

✓ Methods should describe all the techniques and the analysis plan reported in the results, and they should be restricted to answering the objective.

✓ It should cover the study design, sample size, sampling technique, and materials (e.g., surveys) used for cross-sectional studies, and the time of data collection.

Results

✓ It includes descriptive statistics, observations (present/absent), numerical data (e.g., mean +/- SD), or relative differences (e.g., 1.7-fold difference) between group comparisons.

✓ Statistically significant findings should be clearly indicated.

✓ The section starts with a description of included and excluded subjects/samples, providing

reasons for exclusion.

✓ If possible, present comparisons of outcome variables between subgroups (using tables).

✓ Data presentation is preferred over summarizing findings.

✓ The data presented should follow from the methods described, and should always include the

primary outcome.
